In the last two weeks of August a joint ticket deal is being offered for the Western Australian Museum’s A Day in Pompeii and the Art Gallery of Western Australia’s upcoming exhibition event, Peggy Guggenheim: A Collection in Venice.

Joint tickets for the two exhibitions are on sale at a special discounted rate of $30.00 and can be purchased through BOCS Ticketing or at the A Day in Pompeii ticketing desk at the WA Museum.

The special offer is only available from August 16 to August 29 to provide exhibition-goers with a $10.00 saving in the last weeks of A Day in Pompeii and allow an advance ticket purchase to the Guggenheim exhibition.

Pre-purchase tickets to Peggy Guggenheim: A Collection in Venice are valid for any one day during the exhibition period, which is open from 9 October to 31 January 2011.

The Directors of the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Stefano Carboni, and the WA Museum, Alec Coles, said they were pleased with the State Government’s support that enabled them to offer Western Australians these two unique cultural experiences. The Directors stated that the Eventscorp partnership with both exhibitions was an excellent step in bringing more great cultural events to our State.

“With just over a month before A Day in Pompeii closes at the WA Museum, time is running out to join the more than 73,000 people who have already viewed the exhibition that closes on 12 September,” said Mr Coles.

He said that visitors to A Day in Pompeii were enjoying being immersed in the daily life of the Roman Empire, with 3D animation, interactive exhibits and ancient objects providing rare insights into a fascinating city and its catastrophic demise.

Dr Carboni said the special two week rate was a great opportunity to take advantage of the final days of A Day in Pompeii and secure your place to be among the first to visit the exclusive to Perth Peggy Guggenheim: A Collection in Venice, exhibition at the Gallery.

“This is the first exhibition of the Great Collections of the World series and represents the only opportunity for Australians to see Guggenheim Museum in Venice’s unique combination of works from famous artists including Picasso, Pollock and Magritte," Dr Carboni said.

A Day in Pompeii is presented by the Western Australian Museum and Eventscorp and exhibited by the Soprintendenza Speciale per I Beni Archeologici di Napoli e Pompei (SANP) and Museum Victoria.

Peggy Guggenheim: A Collection in Venice has been organised by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, New York and the Art Gallery of Western Australia.
