A New Museum for WA

Today, on International Museum Day, the Treasurer and Minister for Culture and the Arts announced the Western Australian State Government’s commitment to build a new museum through allocated funding.

This is a project of unprecedented scale for the WA Museum with an estimated project cost of (AUD)$428.3 million. Construction is estimated to be completed in 2019-20.

Situated in the heart of the city of Perth the new museum will include a state-of-the art building that integrates with the Museum’s current heritage buildings.

The heritage buildings and the Museum’s Collection and Research Centre will be refurbished as part of this project.

The WA Museum is delighted with this announcement and look forward to delivering a new museum for Western Australia.
