The involvement of Australian women as nurses in war began in 1898 with the formation of the Australian Nursing Service of New South Wales, from which sixty nurses served in the Boer War. Since the time of the Boer War, Australian nurses have served by caring for the sick and wounded in every conflict to which Australia has committed troops.

New Volunteer Information Session

The Western Australian Museum manages a dynamic and engaging volunteer program and there are many opportunities for people to become involved with the Museum and part of a friendly team of volunteers. No experience is necessary as all training is provided and there are many benefits of joining the Museum as a volunteer including an annual free family pass, free training sessions and all uniforms are provided free of charge.

Seaweek at the WA Museum - Geraldton

Celebrate Seaweek 2013 at the Western Australian Museum – Geraldton from March 3 - 9!

Seaweek is an annual celebration of the sea, with this year’s theme ‘Sustainable Seas’ focusing on appreciating the diversity of the ocean and how we can contribute to the sustainability of the marine environment.

Throughout Seaweek fish feeding sessions will be held at the aquarium twice daily at 11am and 2pm, and will include commentary on the fish and sustainable fishing for aquariums.
