Jacket with waistcoat and pantaloons.
MESS JACKET; - Dark blue cloth [black] - pointed front and back - lined by gold lace Medical Staff pattern No. 75 - Dress lace, all around front and bottom. At least 2 large bullet holes either side of point. Lining of scarlet silk, at bottom end supple leather band. Row of gold balls on front. Hook and eye arrangement - lace loop and hook on top.
Collar; - Black velvet, lace loop and hook -" lace up to collar" type of jacket. line of braid at bottom - lace at top contiguous with body.
Shoulder cords; - gold infantry pattern cords - crown and star upon black lining - Lt Colonel's rank.
Cuff; - dark black velvet - pointed cuffs - 6ins at point, 2 1/2ins behind.
Label;- Maj. A.T. White
Small buttons; - gilt, Queen Victoria crown over star surrounding garter on which "Army Medical Staff" inscribed surrounding "VR".
WAISTCOAT; - lace up to collar type coat, standing collar - all barathea - pointed skirt in front - square at back - strap and buckle at back. Row of gold balls on front. Edged front and bottom by tarnished gold braid. Slit pockets - edged with gold braid, crows foot either end, lining is white. Hook and eyes on front.
Collar - squared, standing - edged gold braid all round.
PANTALOONS; - white riding pantaloons. Straps at bottom - pocket in front - 4 white metal buttons on front - 2 buttons outside on back. 4 small white metalbuttons on fly originally - 1 large button on fly .
PANTALOONS: - Dark blue riding pantaloons with broad red stripe. Dark blue Barathea cloth, at bottom of leg [2 on each leg] are black bone buttons - 1 missing from each leg. Further up the leg is a black bone button [on each leg]. Suspender type - 4 black buttons on front, 2 inside back, black metal marked "Hobson & Sons, Woolwich". Fly has small black metal buttons - 1 large one - "Excelsior" - 3 stars.
Red stripe 50cm acrossx 83.5cm long.
MESS OVERALLS; leather straps at bottom - Navy blue/black - barathea cloth - broad red stripe.
Suspender type trousers - 4 buttons on front[black] in pairs - 2 on inside back - white metal.marked "Hobson & Sons London, Lexington St"[London]. Fly - 5 small metal buttons - 1 large metal -"Hobson & Sons
London".
