[.a] WAISTCOAT:
TUNIC: full dress - scarlet barathea cloth - rounded skirts in front, closed at back. Edging or piping at dark blue - seam son back skirts lined blue. Sleeves are full in fashion of 1860s/70s. The collar is rounded in front - one hok and eye - pre 1880 - edged all around with silver braid - at top lace - lace pattern unknown. Collar end cuffs of darl blue - only 6cm showing under Austrian knot - with curled ends on silver cord. Shoulder straps of two cord straps. Skirts lined cream (?) felt. Tan cloth lining at top. Rank: Ensign - one row of lace on top of collar - two stars - junior rank - 2nd Lieut. or Ensign. Buttons: originally white metal - Fremantle Rifle Volunteers 'F.R.V' - on them surrounded by laurel wreath on top Queen Victoria crown. 9 on front originally - one missing.
[.b] BREECHES: pair of cream riding breeches; bottom - laced up; front money pockets; 4 large buttons (for suspenders in front) - 2 at back outside (1 missing). 4 white buttons further up legs from bottom - 1 on other side of leg
[.c] PANTALOONS:
Pair of pantaloons: suspender type pantaloons. Brace at back. In front money pocket. Trouser length and full at bottom - on the bottom of each leg 4 small buttons for straps to the under boots. Boots worn underneath 2 buttons in front of pantaloon. 2 on outside of back for suspender belts. On fly, 4 small white metal buttons (1 large one).
