Tunic; Full dress - red barathea body with medium blue facings on collar and cuffs, squared skirts in front, closed at back. Coat buttoned right over left, squared at top of buttons.
Collar; rounded in front, 1 hook and eye - lace at top, russia braid in button with bullet hole braid on blue light. Lace of unknown pattern.
Cuffs; 2 rows of cord rather than lace, on top Austrian knot and knot below - bullet hole braid on top of cords, fairly narrow cuff.
Rank for Major on shoulder cord of standard infantry pattern of silver with gold braided Victorian crown [Major]. White felt padding on skirts, on waist cracked remnants of bude? leather internal belt, at top of coat padded linenlining.
Buttons; 8 buttons in front - gun metal grey [originally silver] - 2 on back waist seam.
Coat piped white in front and 2 back seams under buttons. 2 on shoulder straps of small size. Buttons have motto"FRV", crown over, laurel wreath on both sides. Button of raised surface, grannulated background.
