Margaret Elvire Hamersley married John Forrest, who later became first Premier of Western Australia, at St Georges Cathedral, Perth, 29 February 1876. John's brother and fellow explorer Alexander Forrest was best man and the reception was held at the bride's parent's house on the corner of Victoria Avenue and St Georges Terrace, Perth.
