ECOLOGICAL SURVEY OF ABYDOS-WOODSTOCK RESERVE, PILBARA REGION, WESTERN AUSTRALIA: GeologyWA Museum Records and Supplements | Updated 1 decade agoIntroduction: The Abydos-Woodstock Reserve is in the centre of the Pilbara Block which forms the northernmost part of the Archaean Western Australian granite shield. The Reserve lies across the junction where gneissic granite batholith domes abut greenstone layered volcanic rocks also of Archaean Age which occur as broad synclinallinear to arcuate belts (Figure 3.1). The greenstone assemblage consists chiefly of basic to intermediate lavas and volcanoclastic rocks with lesser occurrences of sediments and acid volcanic rocks. Author(s) K.L.
