A colourful series of boxes assembled to resemble a city

Celebrating Architecture Week 2014 (20th-26th October)

Box City is a unique, free children's event that promotes an understanding of architecture and urban design by combining art, architecture, creative thinking and city planning with the opportunity to design and build with cardboard!

This project encourages young people to combine design, construction, fun and learning into one comprehensive experience. Children from 4 -12 years (accompanied by adults) can experience the design and construction industry firsthand by requesting permits, ordering materials, designing buildings and constructing a beautiful cardboard box city.

The project is run by members of the Australian Institute of Architects and will feature a volunteer team of architects and designers (both professionals and students) that will work with participants to offer advice and assistance.

AGES: 4 – 12 years
COST: Free event
BOOKINGS: No bookings required
