Explore the WA Museum – Kalgoorlie-Boulder with Dennis the fire engine. Purchase a Museum activity book and help Dennis the fire engine fight fire. The activity book is packed full of puzzles, activities and pictures that will help you and your friends to learn more about the displays inside the Museum.

AGES: 4 – 12 years

Secrets of Shells

Join Museum curators Shirley Slack-Smith and Corey Whisson for a look at the secret life of shells, squids and their other curious cousins in the Marvellous Molluscs show and tell session. Investigate the Shell Explorations touch table, make your own crazy shell-house creature with the Inside the Shell activity, and bring the sea into your own room with a shell-art door-hanger in From Shore to Door.

Grab a guitar, bang out a rhythm on the drums, play keyboards, and get in the groove with hand percussion, an iPod mixing station, crazy wigs and more. Even little rockers can have a play!

Submerged Worlds
Delve into the dark and mysterious world of the giant kelp forests. Model one of the many colourful creatures that call the Kelp Forest home for our ocean diorama.

Build our Dinoscape

The WA Museum – Kalgoorlie-Boulder will be taken over by all things dinosaur these school holidays. Find out what type of dinosaurs may have lived in the region that is now Kalgoorlie and learn more about prehistoric animals.

All activities are available between 10.00am and 4.30pm and cost $2.

Prehistoric Diorama - Saturday 1 – Monday 31 January 2011

What did the earth look like in prehistoric times? Re-create what the world looked like in prehistoric times by using plasticine models to create plants and animals for a prehistoric landscape.
