Activities between 10.00am and 2.00pm

Jump in feet first to our deep water dive-o-rama! Decorate your Diver Below hanging mobile, or walk the bottom of the sea with your own antique Hardhat Dive Helmet. Then help our favourite little robot on his first big mission in ROVee’s Undersea Adventure game. You can take your own mission into the Immerse: Exploring the Deep exhibition with the Underwater Explorer’s Trail.

Shipwrecked!

Survivors ahoy! You have been Shipwrecked on Traitor’s Island! As one of the lucky survivors your only hope is to follow the clues and piece together the map to lead you to the rescue ship, which you can decorate as a pop-up colouring. Will you find Captain Crumb’s treasure? Use scratch-art to make your own rainbow transparency in Castaway Colours, or make your own Origami Boat (That Floats!) and

Come and follow the StowAway! activity trail as you find all of the mysterious ships’ cargo and locate a hidden passenger. You can then decorate your own Cargo Riches pencil case with dazzling and exotic treasure goods.

Animated Storytelling

The Art Of Story Telling

Activity at 10.00am, 11.00am, 1.00pm and 2.00pm daily

Become an animator in one of our 45 min iPad sessions and learn inventive new ways to tell your own stories! Each session is facilitated by CANWA (Community Arts Network of Western Australia) and utilizes a funky and fun iPad application to create the animated stories.

COST: $5.00 per child
AGES: 7 years and above
DURATION: 45 minutes

Doll Collage Craft

In association with the Yarns of the Heart exhibition, you can create a unique doll collage of your own to take home! Dive into the many different fabrics, yarn and string to create an imaginative doll which tells a story about you, your family or your friends.

Whispering about wetlands

If wetlands are your caper, stop by the Discovery Centre to pick up your own self guided activity trail which will take you through the halls, galleries and even out to our very own frog pond! Join in the chalkboard discussion, transform into a beautiful butterfly or scary spider with your own mask, take part in our many other fun craft activities or even just listen to the all the frogs croaking in the pond.

Remarkable Rainforests

Whoops, squeals and howls will greet you when you enter the dark and mysterious realm of the tropical rainforest at the Western Australian Museum - Albany this October school holidays.

Unlike any other place on earth, the rainforest teems with life and colour. Find out why these special places are so important to the health of our planet.

Adorn yourself with feathers and paint as you learn about the Yanomami, an indigenous rainforest tribe from the Amazon. Enter a traditional shabono (hut) and experience life in the village.

On Ya Bike! - Twilight Tour on Two Wheels

Enjoy the stunning sunset over the ocean, as you join with others in a leisurely community bike ride. Starting at the Museum, head along the Marina and the Chapman Road bike path returning to the Museum for a Picnic in the Park in the Museum grounds. Prizes for the best night decorated bike. (Bring your own picnic/dinner, chairs/rugs: no glass please)

Age: all ages | Time: 1.5  - 2 hrs | Cost: free event
