Sands of Peace and Harmony: Common Ground – friendships and cultural exchange

Over a four day residency at the Western Australian Museum-Geraldton, Genla Thupten Lodey, a Tibetan Monk and Spiritual Director of the PhenDhe-Ling Tibetan Buddhist Centre Association based in Fremantle, W.A. will create a sand mandala and offer a range of interactive community projects.

Taoist Tai Chi demonstrations and the Dragon Dance
2.00pm, Saturday 23 October

Watch the ancient arts of tai chi and sword. Experience the quite mediative strength of tai chi as you join in a free session at the conclusion of the demonstrations.

Well-Ing-ton the Dragon will be in attendance and you can try your hand at being part of the dancing dragon as it makes its way around the Museum grounds.

Sand Garden: Common Ground – friendships and cultural exchange

Using the natural colours of sand, Indigenous artist Maxine Gregory will create a BIG community sand garden in the Museum’s grounds.

Members of the public are invited to join Maxine and be part of this beautiful creative community project.

The Revolutionary and Napoleonic wars that followed the French Revolution and lasted from 1792 until 1815, were very different wars to all that had gone before. These were defining moments in the events that shaped the map of modern Europe and things were never to be the same after the Battle of Waterloo. Both France and Britain - indeed the whole of Europe - had changed, and even the very nature of war itself was different.
