DRESS, Late 1840's

CH1982.119

Blue, silk brocaded dress in red, yellow, green, blue and white, all over floral design. 5 ribbon rosettes at hem in blue and two shades of pink. Bodice boned with deep 'V' at front. Note insert sleeves (possibly not original). Pleated chiffon at neckline. Bows (matching rosettes) at sleeves and front and back of bodice. Back opening has eyelet holes but hooks and eyes have been added. Separate piece of pleated self-fabric forms an alternative bodice top. Dress has features of a later period - everything suggests late 1840's except the point at the back of the bodice.
