DRESS, Mid-Late 1840's

A green and blue florally striped woollen one-piece dress. Round neckline. Fastens at back with hooks and eyelet holes. Fastens half-way down front with same. Pointed waist at front. V-shaped panel of ornament from shoulder to waist. 12 decorative buttons down front. Sleeves slightly open at cuff. Four decorative buttons at cuff. Self piping at armholes, waist and neckline, also on edge of cuff. Skirt in flat pleats around to centre back where there is a section of gauging. Skirt cut in six panels. Pocket to right hand sid of centre front. Woollen braid on hem. Two tuck pleats in lower half of skirt. Three horizontal panels of cotton lining. Watch pocket in seam just below waist, at left hand front. All hand-sewn.
