Black silk. One piece dress. Fitted bodice, round natural waist. Front fastening with eight buttons and on left hand waistband with 2 hooks. Square shape trimming in 'yoke' style. Double row of satin ribbon and machine-made lace. Small stand-up collar in material of dress. Simulation belt of 2 double rows of satin ribbon. Fitted sleeves, shaped for elbow, and ending between elbow and wrist. Inner seam only. Sleeve seam at shoulder piped. Back of bodice cut in 3 curved sections, unboned, with no central back seam. Shoulder seams set well back. Back sections extend into basque, trimmed with lace and ribbons, which falls over bustle. Skirt pleated in wide pleats on to waist band. Bustle in silk, but not lining. Lining of coarse cotton. All hand-sewn. Hem of skirt braided. Pocket in lining (front) right hand side.
