Dress of black silk satin, composed of bodice and skirt:
[.a] Bodice: snug-fitting; high stand-up collar decorated with 3 rows of pin-tucks, trimmed with 2 bands of cream cotton Bucks-style lace; V- pointed waist at front and back; centre back marked by rows of tucking; full, puffed sleeves gathered at elbow into long, tight cuff trimmed with same lace; fichu-style arrangement of black embroidered net over shoulders, fastening at waist on both sides; lined with black cotton sateen, heavily boned with 11 bones; front closure with 13 hooks and eyes.
[.b] Skirt: gored; straight front, gathered at back for small bustle; left front placket closure with 6 hooks and eyes; lined with black cotton sateen; hem lined with wool band. Hand and machine-sewn.
