DRESS, c. 1905

Dress composed of matching blouse and skirt:
a) Blouse: Fine white cotton printed with allover branchlet design in jade green; high standup collar, with vertical insertions of machine needle lace, top edge trimmed with small frill of machine Valenciennes lace; circular yoke with insertions of same needle lace, with a frill trimmed with V. lace at lower edge; bodice full-gathered to yoke; very full long sleeves with broad cuff, trimmed with V. lace; back closure with 6 mother of pearl buttons and a press stud at top; hand and machine sewn.
b) Skirt: cotton fabric textured with zig zags, printed allover with small floral design in jade green; straight front, full gathered at back; back placket closure with hooks and eyes; pocket in right side seam; waistband of white cotton tape; insertion of V. type lace horizontally 20cm above hem; hem lined with stiffened white cheese cloth.
The two pieces may have been intended as separates, so different are the patterns; the colour, however, is identical.
