WEDDING DRESS OUTFIT, 1904

Wedding outfit comprising bodice, skirt, petticoat, train, veil and shoes.
(a) Bodice: cream silk satin trimmed with braid, velvet ribbon and "guipure" lace; full-bloused and gathered onto broad waistband; V-neck with ruched chiffon gilet; puff sleeves with elbow frills; internal hooks and eyes, bones, waist tape stamped 'Mrs L. Payne/ COTUMIER/ 156, GOLDHARBOUR LANE, LOUGHBOROUGH'.
(b) Skirt: same fabric and trims; broadly ruched at waist; left front placket; frill decoration at hem; fullness at rear descending into small train; lined with muslin, dressed silk frill inside hem.
(c) Petticoat: white dressed silk; hem trimmed with frills of lace, silk and stiffening, the edge padded with velvet bias binding; buttoned placket at back.
(d) Train: cream bodice; 10' long; trimmed with braid; edges padded along floor length; oddly coarsley made in comparison with the rest of the outfit; gathered at top and attached to shoulders.
(e) Veil: 8' square of white net; deep hem trimmed by a line of floss silk; floral motifs in corners. Classification card description: Square wedding veil of white machine net, the hem turned up 9cm all round and trimmed with a line of white floss silk; a flowery branch in the same silk in each corner. Note with veil says it is 70 years old.
(f) Shoes: white leather; waisted heel; toothpick toe; bar strap closed by white glass button, size 38; also stamped '4' pencilled price (?) '3/11¾' on right sole.
