BODICE & SKIRT

CH1979.660

(a) Bodice: silver grey silk moire with white cotton lining. Whalebone stays at side seams and two at fronts. Back cut in four pieces. High, stiffened collar. Set in sleeves with ribbon trim at wrists. Nine button holes down front opening. Part hand-, part machine-sewn.
(b) Skirt: Matching fabric with tapes inside. Stiffening at hem. Hem trimmed with single and double row of white silk ribbon.
(c) Belt: strip of matching fabric lined with silk. Rosette at one end. Fastenings missing.
Bodice looks like original 1867 style - collar probably altered. Skirt doesn't seem to have been much reduced at all - possibly only the collar?
