3 PIECE DRESS, 1884 (Skirt & 2 Bodices)

Skirt and 2 bodices, all of black silk damask patterned with roses:
b) Skirt: 9 gores; flat front; full-gathered back to accommodate bustle, the fullness held in place by tapes; lined with stiffened, hessian-like fabric.
c) Evening bodice: close-fitting, boned on all seams; low, square neck trimmed with beaded net "collar"; broad, pleated panels at front; hook and eye closure; 3/4 sleeves edged with beaded net flounces; lined with black silk twill, seams bound with black silk; traces of maker's stamp on internal tape belt.
d) Day bodice: close fitting, boned on all seams; high neck decorated with ribbon loops; narrow pleated panel at front; long sleeves, slightly puffed at shoulder and cuff; turned down cuff trimmed with ribbon loops and chantilly lace; lined with black silk twill, seams bound with silk; internal belt stamped in gold 'Robes & Confections/ MAISON WOLF/ GENEVE'.
