Fourteen species of frogs are found commonly along streams and in the many small swamps and dams along the Darling Range behind Perth. All of these species breed during the wetter months in autumn and winter and continuing to spring.

Endemic to this region is the large Hooting Frog, and all five species ofHeleioporus can be found here.
