Throughout the year the Discovery Centre hosts a range of interactive, engaging and hands-on programs that are always changing, and always fun!

Magnificent Machines

Explore the world of simple machines that have been used throughout the centuries – from moving large blocks to build the pyramids in Egypt, to using cranes to build city skyscrapers today! What are simple machines and how do we use them? Can you operate our hydraulic arm gently enough to lift an egg?

Launch projectiles from our catapult and see if you can hit the target and explore how stored energy becomes kinetic energy.
