Example Display Text

Title of Display

A title should be the main heading which sets the context of the contents of the display. It can be accompanied by one or two sentences of explanation.

Topic of Interest

Each interest should be given a sub-heading, or it may be missed. An attractive or illustration will draw more attention to the topic.

Words of Advice
  • Text should be written in short, simple sentences.
  • Try to keep to two sentences per paragraph and two paragraphs per sub-heading.
  • Capital letters should only be used for headings; never use them for whole sentences.
  • Bite-sized chunks of information are more readable than book-like text.

Text with no heading, illustration or object will attract little attention. Labels which are most often read are those linked with an object or an illustration.

Every illustration should be labelled. Often this can be part of a more general piece of information such as Topic of Interest on the right. It can be useful to use smaller type or italics to differentiate between general and specific information.

Copyright can be credited, in smaller type, close to the photograph, or still in small type, with the main text.
