XR:WA events are designed to explore immersive technologies in a way never before presented in WA and unique to Australia.

Embracing computer and tabletop games, VR, Augmented Realty, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, it showcases locally developed technology and productions, placing them in a global context while providing a platform for discussion, testing and exploration.

Events held at the WA Maritime Museum are free with Museum entry. Bookings are required for groups of 10+ by calling 1300 134 081.

Great White Shark 3D Movie

6 - 8 July | 10.30am - 2.30pm, every 30 minutes

Misrepresented, maligned and misunderstood, the White Shark is an iconic predator: the creature we love to fear.

Great White Shark will explore the White Shark’s place in our imagination, in our fears, and in the reality of its role at the top of the oceanic food chain.

The Antarctica Experience

6 - 8 July | 10am - 2pm

The Antarctica Experience uses the latest 360-degree, high-definition virtual reality technology to transport viewers to the frozen continent where they’ll explore Antarctica from a helicopter cockpit, get up close to an adorable penguin colony, witness the spectacular Southern Lights and see first-hand the fascinating work of Australian scientists at Davis Station.

This ground-breaking immersive experience is the work of WA film-maker Briege Whitehead, of White Spark Pictures, who partnered with BAFTA award-winning director Phil Harper.

Explore the Virtual Undersea World

6 - 8 July | 10am - 2pm

Put on a virtual reality headset and transport yourself into a virtual undersea world.

Explore the many wonders of the deep in a virtual reality that will take your breath away.
