The expedition aimed to cross the Arctic Ocean and possibly reach the North Pole, undertaking extensive scientific activity along the way. Negotiating the severe conditions and pack ice, Amundsen and his team attempted several innovative methods for this crossing, including experimenting with early polar flight. These documentaries capture a snapshot of daily life on the ice, with hunting, scientific observations, sledge rides and flight attempts all part of the experience.
