Journey through central Perth and complete challenges in this interactive trail, curated especially by the Museum’s Anthropology and Archaeology Department. Explore different ways to think about objects and discover the stuff (or material culture) that enriches our day-to-day lives.

The trail is roughly 2.8 kilometres and can be completed on foot in about one hour. Each site has wheelchair access.

The trail is subject to opening hours at some locations.

We advise that participants attempt the trail during the following hours:

  • 7am and 4pm on weekdays
  • 10am and 3pm on Saturdays
  • 11am and 4pm on Sundays

Feel free to check in on social media along the way using the hashtag #WAMuseum to let us know if you enjoyed the trail!

Setting Off

This trail begins at the Western Australian Museum’s Perth site located within the Cultural Centre (Northbridge). It will take around one hour to complete. Each beacon (stop) along the trail explores one way of thinking about material culture. There are puzzles at each beacon that you will need to solve in order to progress.
