Museum of Geraldton

The Astrofest Astrophotography exhibition showcases and celebrates the best of Western Australian astrophotography and astro-imaging for 2019. Stunning images featured include star trails, night-scapes, solar system objects, Sun and Moon and deep space images.

Established in 2009, the annual competitive exhibition has become a highlight of Western Australia's Astronomy festival, Astrofest.

The 2019 exhibition includes a special award for the best image of the Southern Cross, the Houtman 400+ Southern Cross Award, sponsored by Batavia Coast Maritime Heritage Association. 2019 marks the 400th anniversary of Frederick de Houtman and Jacob D’Edel encountering the southwest corner of the Australian continent. Houtman is credited as being the first European to plot the constellations of the southern hemisphere, including the Southern Cross.
