This exhibition is of finalists in a photography competition, which was open to members of Photography Clubs affiliated to the WA Photographic Federation. The theme of the competition is a tribute to Dorothea Mackellar’s famous poem “My Country”. The subject was to be a photo taken within Western Australia that is about any one or more of the BOLD words in Dorothea’s poem, and have the chosen words in the title of the image.

I love a sunburnt country,

A land of sweeping plains,

Of ragged mountain ranges,

Of droughts and flooding rains.

I love her far horizons,

I love her jewel-sea,

Her beauty and her terror

The wide brown land for me!

Poetry used by permission of Dorothea Mackellar.

The finalist’s images exhibited here are printed by Fitzgerald Photo Imaging Services in Perth.

The competition winner will be chosen by a panel of judges from the WA Photographic Judges Association.
