Discover the mysterious magic of light at the WA Museum – Geraldton during the school holidays. There is a range of fun, creative and challenging activities and workshops where you can explore what happens when light is reflected, refracted and blocked.

Table activity – Lego Lighthouse Challenge

Dates: Friday 3 July – Wednesday 23 September

Times: 9.30am – 3pm

Cost: free

Ages: 6+       

Bookings: not required

Be inspired by the engineering feats of lighthouse designs through the ages as you construct your own Lego lighthouse. Share your design on social media using #wamholildayfun.

Workshop – Illuminated Lanterns

Dates and times: Wednesday 8 July, 1pm – 2pm; Thursday 9 July, 10am – 11am

Have fun creating patterns that block and release light by making a personalised lantern full of shining colour and dancing shadows.

Workshop – Shining Light

Learn about the different types of navigation lights necessary to manage the busy shipping activity in the Geraldton Port. Make a sparkling, jewel-like window picture of the most iconic navigation light in the Mid West – the Point Moore Lighthouse.

Make your own mini solar-powered working lighthouse and learn about the Fresnel lens. Did you know each lighthouse has identifying light flashes and unique day-mark patterns?
