Meet Polyzosteria cuprea Saussure, 1863!

This native cockroach is endemic to south-western Australia and belongs to a genus of large, wingless and stunningly coloured (by cockroachy standards..) cockroaches found predominantly across southern Australia.

Polyzosteria cuprea along with many other bush cockroach species have recently been entered into the WA Museum electronic database. The distribution of Polyzosteria cuprea records in our Collection are displayed in the image below. The most northerly record is from Evanston in the WA Goldfields; the most southerly records are from Albany and Walpole; the most westerly from Glenbourne Farm near the Margaret River; and the most easterly record is from Hopetoun.
