This project is provided by the WA Museum, City of Perth, Department of Primary Industry and Regional Development and Murdoch University with funding from the Inspiring Australia program of the Commonwealth Government’s Department of Industry, Innovation and Science.

The Western Australian Museum is the State’s premier cultural organisation, housing WA’s scientific and cultural collection.  For over 120 years the Museum has been making the State's natural and social heritage accessible and engaging through research, exhibitions and public programs.

Our scientists contribute knowledge in terrestrial and aquatic zoology as well as in earth and planetary sciences.  The Museum Insect Collection has over 350,000 specimens, mostly from WA, while the Arachnology Collection has some 600,000 specimens. You can search through some of our specimens by visiting our online collections.

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development is the State’s principal agency charged to grow and protect Western Australia’s agriculture and food sector.  Staff conduct targeted R&D, foster innovation and work collaboratively with industry, delivering services over more than 100 million hectares across the state and to agribusinesses along supply and value chains.

Our workforce implements biosecurity measures to safeguard WA’s valuable agricultural resources against the threat and impacts of pests, weeds and diseases. For more information visit Pests, weeds & diseases  and learn more about how  MyPestGuideTM and Citizen Science can assist.
