BROOCH, gold and amethyst, AO Kopp, 1904

Rectangular, 15 carat gold bar brooch with central, oval shaped, light purple amethyst flanked by two small, round amethysts. Eight thin, curved wire scrolls surround amethysts, which are each secured with a gold prong setting. Four flat fleur-de-lis shaped gold pieces separate the centre and side stones. Small triangular gold piece at each end, decorated with filigree effect wire scrolls. Smooth, round, gold ball finial at each end. Thin, gold safety chain with gold safety pin at end attached to small metal ring secured through bottom left curved wire scroll. Thin, cylindrical, pointed metal pin attached to metal tube hinge on right side of back. Pin secured with metal ‘C’ clasp on back left. ‘15 CT’ stamped on back left, and ‘A•O•K’ stamped into back.
