BROOCH, gold, Lazarus, with shield

H2013.180

9 carat gold, double bar brooch, with curved gold shield with small, round, red stone in centre. Six gold prongs secure stone. Thin zig-zag engraving around border of shield. Eight pointed star engraved in shield around stone. Short, vertical gold bar, with round knob at each end, attached either side of shield. Scroll pattern on top right and bottom left ends of horizontal bars. Fluted, gold ball finial attached at end of top left bar and bottom right bar. Thin, cylindrical, pointed metal pin attached to metal tube hinge on right side of back. Pin secured with metal ‘C’ clasp on back left. ‘L9 (swan) B’ stamped into back.
