BROOCH, blister pearl carved pearl shell on gold setting, Donovan & Overland

Large, round, blister pearl and leaf shaped, carved, pearl shell brooch with gold back plate. Round blister pearl at bottom of brooch, with seven flat pearl shell leaves with carved veins protruding from the top of the blister pearl and curving around to the sides. Flat gold setting attached at the back, with ten thin vertical gold claws spaced around the brooch securing pearl shell to the setting. Thin round pointed metal pin on back attached to metal hinge, and secured by round clasp. ‘9C (key)’ stamped into back.
