PENDANT, Queen Victoria Coronation

H1990.320

Circular pendant with a metal rim and two round links for attaching to a pin or chain. The obverse and reverse are printed paper, encased with a glass cover. The rim has a detailed leaf and flower pattern. The obverse features a head to waist print of the young Queen Victoria, well dressed and coiffured with "HER MOST GRACIOUS MAJESTY ALEX. VICTORIA." around the edge. On the reverse the young throned queen appears with Britannia kneeling at her feet offering a crown on a cushion. Fruit and a severed head are among objects at her feet. To the right there are two helmeted female allegorical figures gesturing toward the crown, and the Archbishop with arms raised is on the left. Above, is and angel with trumps. Printed around the edge, "ASCENDED THE BRITISH THRONE JUNE 20. 1837. IN THE 19TH YEAR OF HER AGE".
