MEDAL, QUEEN VICTORIA DIAMOND JUBILEE

Medal has a good deal of red colouring in the metal. On obverse: the old head of Queen Victoria. Around the rim, "VICTORIA ANNUM REGNI SEXAGESIMUM FELICITER CLAUDIT XX IVN.MDCCCXCVII". On reverse, head of young Queen Victoria with a leafy bough beneath with "1837". Alongside, "LONGI- / -TUDO / DIERUM / IN / DEXTERA / EIUS" (Victoria the year of her reign. The finish of 60 happy years"). Old number is lightly marked on the obverse, "24/19" and the initials "T.B." appear on the relief section of the shoulder. This was one of the official medals, struck in gold, silver or bronze and is the large 56mm size. Another was run, 21mm in size.
