MEDAL, QUEEN VICTORIA CORONATION

Commercially produced medal, one of many issued for the Coronation, most in copper or white metal. On obverse, the head of the young queen, hair braided on top of her head. Around the edge, "VICTORIA QUEEN OF GREAT BRITAIN" and below, "BORN MAY 24. 1819". On the relief of the neck, "HALLIDAY F" is printed. On the reverse, the figure of Britannia appears with three other allegorical figures. Three are supporting a crown over the head of the seated queen who holds the orb and sceptre; an angel with trump flies overhead. The base of the medal reads "CORONATION JUNE 28. 1838", and around the edge, "LONG LIVE THE QUEEN". At the side, "HALLIDAY F" is printed.
