One-piece white muslin dress, embroidered with sprigs of flowers in brightly coloured wool.
Bodice: Neckline forms wide shallow curve over the shoulders. A band of ruched muslin attached above an embroidered flounce and drawn up with tape. Sharp points at front and back. Front cut in four sections with long central bone and two shorter bones either side meeting in front. Open at back, boned at opening and fastening with tape through 13 eyelet holes. Each side in two sections with seams sloping into points. Short ruched sleeves trimmed with black velvet band and lace. Sleeves covered with deep embroidered flounce. Bodice and sleeves lined with heavier cotton.
Skirt: Gathered onto bodice. Has three flounces embroidered à disposition. Cut in three sections. Has train. Points at both front and back of bodice indicate after 1856 and probably to c. 1857 after which points disappeared.
