JACKET BODICE

Matches CH78.162 and 163. Cream silk petersham with cotton lining. Stand-up collar, 2cm high. Tightly fitted with 2 points in front and short basque at back. 3 front bones on each side, one on each side seam and one on lower centre back, extending into basque. 2 large darts on back and evidence that darts have been let out at back and front. Sleeves full length, falling off shoulder, and very full over elbow. Open up outer side. Bodice padded around bust. Silk waist tape sewn onto back seams. No central back seam. An outer bodice. Probably for afternoon wear, possibly to wear over short-sleeved bodices.
