Cream silk petersham. Wide round neckline with draw-tape. Fastens down back with 6 heads through eyelet holes in material. Front laces. Shaped with 2 large seams at front. All machine-sewn. 2 bones centre front, one on each side seam and 2 at back, set diagonally shoulder to waist. Silk flap at front behind lacing. Cotton lining and short 'cap' sleeves. An under-bodice, matches CH.1978.162. May have served in place of a corset.
