Follow the Stowaway! trail at the Shipwreck Galleries, as you collect cargoes from across the seven seas, piece together your cargo ship puzzle and craft your own treasure microbox as a precious cargo mini-container.

Join us as we explore ways of recycling everyday objects into works of art.  Reusing objects benefits our environment by sending less rubbish to landfill; you can also create interesting and unique objects to take home.

Upcycle Hannan Street

11.00am – 2.00pm (Saturday 27 September – Monday 13 October)

Using recycled materials, let’s reconstruct Hannan Street.  What shape are the buildings?  How tall are they and what decorative features do they have?  Let’s see if we can recreate the streetscape.

Moving Messages - communication in the Great War

How did orders from the frontline reach their destinations?  How did thousands of postcards, letters and parcels get to and from the home front?  And how were animals of all shapes and sizes used as messengers to save hundreds of lives?

Explore the Discovery Centre at the Western Australian Museum – Albany these school holidays where you can try to master Morse code, send a message by semaphore flags, construct a periscope to see above the trenches and much more.

Join us as we explore the wonderful world of wearable treasures at the Western Australian Museum – Perth these school holidays!  We are celebrating our love of fantastic treasures as we host the Afghanistan: Hidden Treasures from the National Museum, Kabul exhibition.  Whether an object was used for decoration or as a tool, people have always ornamented their most precious objects to create wonderful treasures.
