Uncover the mysteries of movement these school holidays when science, art and imagination collide in a creative way at the Western Australian Museum – Geraldton.  Discover the fun of friction, learn about leverage and delight in drawing with a range of activities to complement the inspirational exhibition, da Vinci Machines.

Workshops

Draw like da Vinci

10.00am – 11.30am, Monday 6 October and Tuesday 7 October   

In this hands-on workshop artist Marina Baker helps you to discover the dynamic power of da Vinci’s innovative drawing techniques, composition and his ability to register human emotions and gestures.  Marina lived in Italy, studying proto Renaissance art including sfumato (softening the edges) and chiaroscuro (the effects of light and dark).  Let Marina guide you from Medieval darkness to the Renaissance light!

Clucking Cups

Develop a unique understanding of friction and its uses when you make this fun instrument. Da Vinci would have loved a set of clucking cups!

Discovering da Vinci Activity Corner

The Discovering da Vinci Activity Corner will be a hive of activity for the whole family these school holidays.  Take part in a range of ‘da Vinci challenges’ where you can explore your own potential for da Vinci inspired bright ideas!
