Black long-sleeved coat. Bodice has two large centre tucks partly obscured by satin trim. Round neck. No darts in back. A-line skirt, one seam at centre back. Trimmed with spotted satin around neck, down fronts to hem and on cuffs. Black buttons (decorative only); 3 on each front of bodice, 2 on each cuff and 4 on each side of skirt front commencing 20cm below waist...Waistband is also spotted satin attached at centre fronts, side seams and centre back. Fastens with 7 hooks and eyes from neck to waist and one hook and eye on waistband. Lined with black cotton throughout, including sleeves. Machine sewn except for hand sewn tuck in skirt at centre-fronts.
Long-line jacket to be worn with matching skirt, 1st-2nd decade of the 20th century: contrast facing, button trim and shaped hem very characteristic of this period.
