White cotton nightgown. Long sleeves, high neck, gathered at front under waistband, and centre neckline. Opening at back, fastening at neck with strawstring tie. Sleeves gathered at wrist under embroidered braid. Same braid around neck, waistband of openwork, in centre front of gown. Ties attached to edge of waistband. French seams throughout. Gown made of two panels - front & back. All machine sewn. Lace trims on sleeves and neck. Reference: Cunnington & Buck CHILDREN'S COSTUME IN ENGLAND 1300-1900, page 150.
