White cotton nightgowm (has been blued). Long sleeves, high neck, gathered at front under waistband. One panel in front and three panels at back. Opening at back with drawstring tie at neck. Gathers at back neckline. Openwork insertion in front at neckline with embroidered braid edging. Flounce attached at bottom edge of insertion. Braid edging at top continues around whole neckline. Band in front consists of openwork strip with braid edging, fixed over gathers in garment. Ties attached to edge of waistband. Sleeves slightly gathered at wrists underneath strip of braid. Lace trims on neck, flounce & sleeves. All machine sewn. All french seams. Reference: Cunnington & Buck, CHILDREN'S COSTUME IN ENGLAND 300-900, page 150.
