Large rectangular tan coloured cardboard thread container with 7 thread balls. Three quarters of lid covered with woven material print. Lid top printed in blue with ‘ANCHOR’ and a blue anchor. ‘CLARK’S’ printed in black above and ‘FAST COLOUR/Pearl Cotton’ printed below. ‘(anchor)/CLARK & CO.PAISLEY’ printed on each side of lid. ’10 BALLS EACH 10 GRAMMES ART.No./4591/Made in Great Britain M.R’ printed on one end of lid. ‘Pearl Cotton No. 12/ANCHOR’ and anchor symbol printed on one end of lid. 25mm long rectangular section cut out of one end. ‘466’ printed in black on tan sticker on end of bottom. ‘(anchor) CLARK & CO. PAISLEY’ printed in black on bottom next to ‘L5V’ stamped in ink. Folded rectangular piece of yellowed tissue paper inside. Seven thread balls inside; two are blue, two are pink, and one each of dark green, light green, orange. ‘SOLIDE/FAST F.730 FIRME/WASCHECHT’, and the other is marked ‘SOLIDE/FAST F.505 FIRME/WASCHECHT’ marked inside blue, diamond shaped sticker inside pink balls. ‘DOLLFUS-MIEG & C/COTON PERLE/DMC/5/10 GRAMMES’ printed in gold on black cardboard disc at end of both green and orange balls. ‘Coulr/835’ printed in gold on black sticker inside orange ball. ‘890’ and ‘472’ printed in gold on black sticker inside green balls, ‘3325’ marked inside one blue ball. Other blue ball marked ‘582’ and has cardboard disc printed in silver with ‘CARTIER-BRESSON A PARIS/COTON PERLE BRILLANTE’.
