Small rectangular cardboard thread spool container with a light green patterned detachable lid and white bottom. ‘COATS/JUNIOR SPOOL’ printed on lid top in white and black with chain link circle and ‘Super SHEEN/FAST COLOUR’ printed in white on a green and red circle. ‘Cotton Thread Made in Great Britain/12 Spools each 80 Yards (73 Metres)’ and ‘J.& P. COATS’ printed on side of lid. ‘Art No. x669/50 CHAIN’ printed on lid end. Small rectangular section cut out lid end to reveal black sticker marked ‘555’ in white on container bottom. ‘?81SA’ ink stamped on bottom. 12 wooden spools of cotton thread inside including four spools of colour 669, one each of 696, 529, 690, 488, and two spools of 927 and 405. Five spools are mauve coloured and seven spools are varying shades of light blue-green thread. ‘J.& P. COATS/80 YARDS/73 METRES’ printed in green on cream sticker with a red border at one end. ‘MERCER COTTON FAST COLOUR MR’ printed in red on cream sticker at other end.
