Dionic conductivity tube set consisting of a wooden box (.1) containing the conductivity tube and a metal-case conductivity meter (.2). The box (.1) is of pale-coloured wood, varnished, with leather handle and lock with key. A thin tin tag is attached to the key with a paper clip. The lid of the box bears three identification plates. The first reads 'DIONIC/ CONDUCTIVITY TUBE/...EVERSHED & VIGNOLES LTD/ LONDON. W4.' The second reads 'H. ROWE & CO. PTY LTD/ MELBOURNE, SYDNEY, BRISBANE & ADELAIDE/ SOLE AGENTS/ IN AUSTRALIA FOR/ EVERSHED & VIGNOLES LTD'. The third plate reads 'MADE IN/ ENGLAND'. The box lid contains a metal rod, wire, quantity of plastic tubing and a glass cylinder (thermometer) clipped neatly to box lid. Instructions for use are printed in black on white cardboard and screwed onto base of box.
The conductivity meter (.2) is painted pale green-grey and is essentially a square shape with a cone-shaped attachment at one end with a small handle attached. Two pivoting metal handles meet at the top of the meter for carrying. A metal identification plate on the top of the meter is hinged, and flips back to reveal a guage indicating handle speed (up to 160 R.P.M.).
