H1995.1322

Black wooden box with hinged lid containing hellige colour tube and a turbidimeter. Box (.1) is covered with black vinyl, and is inscribed 'HELLIGE' in silver on the top surface. A pair of catches hold the box closed; to open, they slide sideways. The box interior is formed to accommodate specific components of the Hellige colour tube and turbidimeter, and is lined with black velvet.
The Hellige colour tube consists of two long tubes, 21 (Length) x 2.7 (Diameter) (2 & 3), a shorter tube, 11cm x 2.7 diam. (4) and a still shorter tube, 6 (Length) x 2.7 (Diameter) (5). The Hellige colour tube set also includes 5 glass disks of varying colours from clear to pale yellow/brown, framed with metal (6-10).
The turbidimeter (11) consists of a metal rod to which is attached a white cloth tape measure marked out with irregular gradations between 7 and 3000. The gradations between 50 and 3000 are engraved on the metal rod. The far end of the tape is inscribed 'PLACE EYE HERE'. It also includes two metal rings (12 &13) with threads attached which screw into the end of the turbidimeter rod.
