Former Kalgoorlie Mining Associates property. a. Rectangular wooden case, has maker's transfer on lid. "THE EDISON MIMEOGRAPH / INVENTED BY THOMAS A. EDISON / ... / LIST OF PATENTS / PERTAINING TO DUPLICATION / MACHINES .. PROCESSES (?) OWNED / JAN 1 1897 BY A.B. DICK / COMPANY CHICAGO, USA / OTHER PATENTS... [other patents listed commence August 1876. Foreign patents also listed but unreadable]. Second transfer on lid indecipherable. Stamped into wood is "NOT LICENSED FOR USE IN / NORTH OR SOUTH AMERICA". Front rim of lid reads "No 12". The box is divided into compartment and has a sponge and tube of ink. b. slate c. inking plate, has "NOT LICENSED FOR USE IN / NORTH OR SOUTH AMERICA" and "PAT MAY 28 1889". Plate is in two halves. Bottom half if rectangle of slate bordered with wood. There are two flat hooks at one side of bottom which anchor paper On left hand side, stamped into wood is "NOT LICENSED FOR USE IN / NORTH OR SOUTH AMERICA". "MAKER A.B. DICK CO / CHICAGO U.S.A." "12". d. roller. Rubber, with wooden handle. There is about a 1 cm gap allowance either side of roller on inking plate. e. tube of ink. Has "MAKER A.B. DICK CO / CHICAGO U.S.A." on neck of tube. Paper label adhered to tube had long since lifted from body of tube, which is very empty. Label reads: "U.S. PATENT SEPT 30,1890 / BLUE CLIMATE PROOF CONCENTRATED INK / MADE ONLY BY A.B. DICK COMPANY, CHICAGO U.S.A. / FOR USE ON THE Edison Automatic Mimeograph and the Edison Hand Mimeograph / SPECIAL DIRECTIONS / FOR THE AUTOMATIC. Squeeze a small quantity from the [tube?] about the size of a / lead pencil, evenly over the entire length of the small inking roller of the ... and with the hand roller transfer the ink to the printing roller ... crank on the / printing roller, gently sliding the hand roller sideways to ... form distribution. THE HAND MIMEOGRAPH Apply the ink to the ... plate and distribute evenly upon the roller by passing it in different directions over the ... ..out too much on / the slate at one time so as to avoid getting too much of the roller ... All rollers should be cleaned when the machines [not in use?]. This ink requires no thinning.
